I am a third-year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Economics and a minor in Mathematics at Wilfrid Laurier University. As a motivated and hard-working individual, I have developed excellent experiences, including my time as an Economic Researcher for the Laurier Economics Club and as a Data Analyst Intern at Organigram Global. As an economic research executive, I analyzed the micro and macroeconomic impacts of traffic congestion and evaluated the costs and benefits of potential policies to address the issue. This culminated in a PowerPoint presentation to a panel that included the Vice President of Research at the C.D. Howe Institute. At Organigram Global, I led multiple data mapping projects and a final project where I learned the basics of VBA and programmed an ROI% calculator. I am proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Power Query and have experience using RStudio, Stata, and Python. I strive for excellence and embrace ambition, which is why I want to further expand upon my experience in quantitative analysis, statistical modeling, and programming. So far, I showcased a stock pitch report to a hedge fund, developed a stock volatility forecast program in RStudio, and am taking online courses to improve my skillset in programming languages such as Python and SQL. I am excited to utilize my experiences and skills for the project I take on through Riipen!

Stock Volatility Forecast Program
April 2025 - May 2025
Recently, I developed a stock volatility forecasting program in RStudio using ARCH and GARCH modeling as a personal project. The program allows users to import stock data of their choice directly from Yahoo Finance and calculates the corresponding log returns. I implemented functionality to generate a PACF chart of the squared returns, enabling users to determine the appropriate number of lags for their GARCH model. Finally, using a rolling forecast origin, the program produces and plots a GARCH-based volatility forecast for the selected stock.
I have used this program, alongside other tools, to support my personal investment decisions in the stock market. Specifically, it has helped guide my purchases of various equities within my TFSA account. Additionally, I’ve leveraged this program to produce independent stock reports.
