Sustainable Logistics & Green Operations Strategy for JIT Logistics
Project Objective and Goals This project will help JIT Logistics explore eco-friendly practices in logistics and delivery. The main objective is to design a sustainability roadmap that balances operational efficiency with environmental responsibility. Students will research fuel alternatives, green partnerships, and packaging solutions while building a business case for sustainable logistics practices that attract eco-conscious clients. The outcome will be a Green Operations Playbook that JIT can use as a guide for scaling responsibly and differentiating itself in the Ontario logistics market. Tasks Students Will Complete Sustainability Audit Assess JIT’s current carbon footprint (fuel usage, vehicle types, packaging waste). Benchmark JIT against industry best practices in sustainable logistics. Alternative Fleet Research Research affordable green vehicle options (electric vans, hybrid trucks, e-bikes for local delivery). Evaluate charging/fueling infrastructure and total cost of ownership. Eco-Friendly Packaging Solutions Identify sustainable packaging suppliers (biodegradable, reusable). Compare costs, durability, and customer perception. Partnership Opportunities Explore partnerships with green-certified suppliers, warehouses, and recycling companies. Research government incentives or grants for sustainable fleet upgrades. Customer Engagement & Branding Develop messaging that positions JIT as a sustainability-focused logistics provider. Propose marketing campaigns to attract eco-conscious small businesses and retailers. Financial & Operational Impact Model the costs and savings of adopting green logistics practices. Create a phased implementation plan (short-term wins, long-term investments).

Reducing Delivery Delays Through Real-Time Tracking and Communication Improvements
This project tackles one of the most common challenges in logistics: delivery delays and the negative customer experience they create. The objective is to help JIT Logistics analyze the root causes of delays, design better real-time tracking systems, and create improved communication processes between drivers, dispatch, and customers. By the end of the project, students will deliver a delay-reduction framework that includes data analysis, new technology recommendations, and improved standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Route Optimization and Operations Efficiency Strategy for JIT Logistics
This project will give students the opportunity to work directly on the operational side of logistics by analyzing JIT Logistics’ delivery workflows and recommending improvements in route planning, driver allocation, and cost management. The goal is to design a data-driven optimization framework that reduces delivery times, lowers fuel costs, and improves customer satisfaction. Students will use real or simulated data to propose solutions around routing, scheduling, and efficiency, building a practical operations playbook that JIT can use as it scales.

Digital Marketing & Customer Acquisition Strategy for a Logistics Startup
This project focuses on helping JIT Logistics , a delivery and logistics startup, strengthen its digital presence and attract new clients across Ontario. Students will work on creating a scalable marketing and sales funnel tailored to the logistics sector, with an emphasis on small business clients, e-commerce retailers, and local distribution partners. By the end of the project, students will produce a digital growth playbook that includes research, campaign strategies, and client acquisition tactics to position JIT Logistics as a competitive and trusted logistics provider.

Data Cleaning & Visualization of Logistics Operations for JIT Logistics
The objective of this project is to: Clean, analyze, and visualize logistics and delivery performance data for JIT Logistics. The goal is to uncover insights on operational efficiency, delivery times, and cost per trip, which can be used to improve decision-making and showcase performance to clients. Desired outcomes by the end of the project: Explain the importance of data-driven decision making in logistics Differentiate between structured data (delivery times, costs, routes) and unstructured data (customer feedback) Understand how logistics datasets can be cleaned and prepared for analysis Apply the four types of data analytics (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive) in a logistics context Create dashboards and visualizations for KPIs such as on-time delivery %, fuel efficiency, and route optimization Recognize how visual data storytelling can improve communication with business clients Recommend strategies for using cleaned data to improve JIT Logistics’ operations Recommended IBM SkillsBuild course(s): Overview of Data Tools and Languages Your Future in Data: The Job Landscape
